Together

They walked together,
Hand in hand,
Discussing and arguing,
Deeply involved in each other.

They were siblings… in a sense
They were lovers… in a way
Tricking a vagrant wayfarer here
Smiling at a sweet damsel there.

Strolling on irregular roads,
They turned to their left and right,
Anger burrowed her brow,
As he increased pace

She ordered him to stop,
He came up with a quick retort,
This is the end she thought,
This is the beginning he reasoned.

Enough said the master,
Enough of fights,
I need both of you… together,
Alone, you are useless.

They stopped to listen
Comprehension dawned,
They were not lovers
And certainly not siblings…
They were the thoughts
Of a brighter mind,
A higher being.
